This hands-on workshop in Northwest Tucson will explore the exciting possibilities of hand building functional pots with impressed clays slabs from plaster tablets inscribed with pattern, textures or drawings. The techniques take their inspiration from 15th century Spain.
|

|
|
Demonstrations and studio work will include techniques demonstrated to make a teapot. Other forms will be demonstrated with time permitting participants including a small handled basket and cup and saucer. We will use plaster press molds to create pottery forms with decorated surface treatments.
Because of the individual instruction provided, space is limited to 8 participants.

About the instructor:
Katrina Chaytor is a nationally and internationally known ceramic artist and educator based in Calgary, Alberta, where she is program head of the ceramics faculty at the Alberta College of Art + Design. She holds a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax and and MFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. Katrina has exhibited in numerous national and international group, two-person and solo exhibitions.

Frame coddle and clamps ( pre-cut and joined)

Plaster for molds you will create
